South Korean startup Breezm announced on April 2 the opening of its first offshore store in New York City, marking its entry into the American market. Specializing in customized eyeglasses utilizing artificial intelligence and 3D technologies, Breezm aims to extend its services beyond its native South Korea.
The company, which has been at the forefront of personalized eyewear technology for the past five years, plans to introduce its offerings to U.S. consumers. Later this year, Breezm will officially launch its custom eyewear ordering app in the U.S., providing both in-store and online options.
With ambitions to expand its presence, Breezm sets a target of establishing 100 stores across the U.S. within the next five years. The flagship store, strategically located near Bryant Park and Times Square, promises the same personalized experience as its Korean counterparts. Customers can schedule appointments for one-on-one consultations, where advanced technologies like 3D scanning and printing will be utilized to create custom eyeglasses tailored to individual facial features.
Breezm’s custom eyeglasses are competitively priced at $298 (for flagship products), offering affordable options for personalized eyewear enthusiasts. The company initiated its U.S. venture with pop-up stores in 2022, catering to over 400 customers during this period.
Park Hyung-jin, CEO of Breezm, emphasized the company’s commitment to meeting the diverse needs of American consumers. He noted that through interactions with local customers, Breezm identified a common discomfort with traditional eyewear not accommodating various facial characteristics. “By leveraging Korean expertise in eyewear manufacturing, Breezm aims to establish its presence in the American market with its unique service featuring 3D printing and AI technology-based custom glasses,” he said.
